Helsingborg Municipality (Helsingborgs kommun) is a municipality in Skåne County in Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Helsingborg, which is Sweden's eighth largest city. The municipality had a population of 147.734 at the end of 2019, and the population is increasing by more than 2.000 people annually. Visit Helsingborg gives a sense of what we are about as a destination and place to live, as does this community driven site called Thisishbg. For the business side of things, you can google translate this site.
The city is governed by the city council of 101 elected representatives via monthly plenary sessions, by the municipal board and a number of political committees. The decisions are prepared, and executed by, nine administrations run by carrier professionals. The total number of employees are aprox 10.000.
Ten municipality-owned companies add another 4.000 employees, financial income, and expands the citys ability to provide service and innovate.
The city is a foundational part of many collaborations, such as the regional Familjen Helsingborg, the international Greater Copenhagen, a great number of EU-projects and much more.
Trust-based governance is fundamental to the city leadership and the yearly Trend- och omvärldsanalys sets the direction in a unique way (compared to how other Swedish municipalities operate).
The intranet of the city is open (Helsingborg is very much into transparency, open licenses, open data, open source, open everything) so take help from google translate and a swedish friend and dig in – it's a cornucopia of insights into how the city operates.
By 2035, Helsingborg shall be a creative, vibrant, united, global, and balanced city for both people and businesses
