What? With the help of sensors, the city's street lighting network can open up new opportunities to collect data on how the city is doing.

Why? "What's in it for someone else?". The question symbolizes the mind set the city works from where the insight is that we can not know in advance who will refine the data and what it will be used for. Maybe it will be an external company or why not a student on Campus who finds a solution to a need and creates benefits for the residents. The work with the city's street lighting is challenging precisely because there are so many uncertain parameters but also exciting for the same reason. We can only predict how and what role the street lighting of the future will play, but one thing is for sure - by collecting and analyzing collected data, we will be able to see connections that we have not seen before and thus also have the opportunity to do traditional things in a new and smarter way.

How? The city can collect lots of different data via sensors that are located on the street lighting poles around Helsingborg. With the help of these, you can, for example, do temperature measurement, noise measurement, counting of cars, presence detection, etc. The first part of the project is, among other things, to establish lighting around the running tracks in Pålsjö forest and at Bruce's forest.
