What? LAiban is an AI that is accessible and provides independence for the children in the preschools in Helsingborg's city schools all day. LAiban can answer many of the questions that children ask several times during the same day.

Why? The children are strengthened by the fact that they can find answers to their questions themselves. The educators, children and parents appreciate that the information is always correct and easily accessible to everyone. Everyone gets the same information and every child gets a chance to be heard. Laiban is also getting smarter with each passing day. For example, it understands several languages that children want to ask questions in. Today, Laiban speaks 9 different languages.

How? In 30 preschool departments, Laiban is now in an iPad on the wall in the cloakroom and answers the children's questions about clothes, food and what activities are going on. There is now a first version of Laiban that is ready to be scaled up and rolled out in all of Helsingborg's preschools. Laiban will, however, continue to develop further in dialogue with the children and educators who have Laiban at their preschool - but also at the Health and Care Administration received a cousin named Britt-Mari.

The children often use Laiban. They return to Laiban several times a day. The children change languages and I see what a joy it will be, especially when you do not understand Swedish so well yet. It strengthens the identity for everyone. The children also have control of lunch to a greater extent now.

Here is a summary of all the things LAiban can already do. And here are some of the things in the pipeline

Objective: Increased independence of children in preschool

Result: After using Laiban, the children showed more independence, this was shown, among other things, when they had to dress to go out. The children have also improved their ability to handle digital tools.

Objective: Significant time savings for educators.

Result: Laiban provides an average time saving equivalent to 20 minutes per day and educator

Based on the challenge: ”What does the school of the future look like?

JJ comments: What would Laiban 2.0 look like? The group here is really on to something, but what happens if we go further. Think about, conceptualise, (and POC?) a v2 of LAiban.
